The short version: CamScan does not collect, store, or transmit any user data.
Data Collection
CamScan does not collect any personal data. This includes:
- No collection of names, email addresses, or contact information
- No collection of device identifiers or advertising IDs
- No collection of location data
- No collection of usage statistics or analytics
- No collection of document content or metadata
- No tracking of user behavior
Your documents and scans remain completely private on your device. They are never transmitted to any server or third party.
Permissions
CamScan requests only the permissions necessary to function:
- Camera Permission: Required to capture document images
- Storage Permission: Required to save scanned documents and PDFs
CamScan does not request:
- Internet permission (the app is fully offline)
- Contact or calendar access
- Location services
- Phone or SMS permissions
- Any other unnecessary permissions
Offline Functionality
CamScan is designed to work completely offline. The application:
- Does not require an internet connection to function
- Does not have internet permission
- Does not transmit data to any server
- Does not connect to any external services
- Processes all data locally on your device
Security
Since CamScan does not collect or transmit data, there is no data to compromise. However, we take security seriously:
- The application is open source, allowing anyone to audit the code
- All processing happens locally on your device
- Your documents are stored only where you choose to save them
- We recommend using device-level security features (PIN, biometric authentication) to protect your device
